Gone Fishing: How to Make DIY Shaker Cards
Hey y'all it's Liv here! I am so excited to share with you a fun DIY project guaranteed to make you and your recipient smile. My dad fishes all the time and I wanted to create a fun and cute card to thank him for all the fish he has caught. Recently I have become obsessed with creating shaker postcards, shaker embellished hoops and shaker planner spreads. There is something so satisfying with having a project that you can move.
In this project I created a fish themed card but don't let that limit your creativity! Paper House Productions has so many amazing stickers, embellishments and paper, which means the sky is the limit.

STEP 2: CUT OUT WINDOW ON FRONT OF CARD
Trace an outline of your quote card on the front of your card. Make sure to give yourself at least a half inch border to allow you to adhere the plastic envelope to the back front of the card. I recommend using an exacto knife and a ruler to help give a precise line. Make sure you have a cutting mat as I don’t want to ruin your table.
STEP 3: CUT OUT YOUR FISHES
I chose the Freshwater fish 2″ Sticker to be used in this embellished shaker card. I placed the fish on cardstock and then cut them out using an exacto knife. I reused the cardstock that was provided in the sticker package.
Step 4: Adhere Clear Plastic Envelope to the card
I reuse the plastic clear envelopes that come with most craft orders. This is a great way to cut down on cost and save the environment. I recommend using a clear adhesive roller to adhere the plastic to the card.
Step 5: Place fishes into plastic envelope and reseal
Plop your fishes into the clear plastic and then seal the plastic envelope using your adhesive roller. Make sure to be precise with your adhesive roller as you don't want the fish to get caught on the edges. Let them swim freely.
Step 6: Embellish
Hands down this is my favorite step. Add whatever stickers, die cuts, and paper to your card. Make sure to share your creations on Paper House Creates.
